Where to Stay in Boulder
When you are choosing a place to stay, you have to decide on location, lodging type, rate, amenities, and the character of the lodging place. On location the properties fall into four categories: downtown, near the University, within city limits, and outside of the city. Of course, your itinerary will tend to influence location preference, but be aware that rates tend to fall as you move away from downtown. Boulder offers full and limited service hotels, motels, suite hotels and bed and breakfasts. Rates vary from $45 to over $300 a night. Foot of the Mountain motel has twenty rustic cabins complete with knotty pine paneling. The motel is located nine blocks from the Pearl Street Mall right on the Boulder Creek path at 2nd and Arapahoe. This puts the motel next to Eben Fine park and minutes from the Red Rocks Trail (hiking). The extra person charge is only $5 so if you have a large party sharing rooms this can be very affordable. The pet fee is also $5 per day showing equal consideration for our non-human friends.

Boulder Mountain Lodge is located 3 miles west of the Pearl Street Mall up Boulder Canyon Drive (Hwy 119). The accommodations are rustic. The mountain settings offers hiking, climbing and fishing. Rates are reasonable by Boulder standards: in the words of one guest "… a great deal in pricey Boulder". The rates are helped given the extra person charge is only $10 and the accommodations tax is half of what prevails in city limits.
